Not the End (piano)

Written on an afternoon in December 1992 at the request of Canadian pianist Barbara Pritchard to become part of her “Variations” cycle of piano commissions, the music was inspired by a fragment of text from Maggie Helwig’s poem “The Other Goldberg Variations”. The ghost of Mozart appears in this one-minute work that features use of the middle pedal and a special resonance effect.
