Traces for string quartet

My first composition for string quartet muses on certain bits and pieces of

music from the string quartet repertoire: traces of music from the past,

archeological discoveries of parts of string quartets penned by composers

no longer with us, yet very much alive in the hearts of concert-goers today.

As I wrote, I was haunted by Beethoven's Grosse Fuge, the Dissonance Quartet

by Mozart, and Bartok's great 3rd and 6th quartets.
